Is anyone interested in having a 1 or 2-hour session at Senior Districts this year?  Some board members brought up the idea and I thought I should pass it on to you.  This could also include Junior Districts if you wish.

If so, what sessions would you be interested in seeing?  Any clinicians that you think would be willing to offer a clinic?

Please respond to this post with your thoughts.

Senior Auditions went very well on Saturday.  We all felt that things went very smoothly, with no major issues to mention.  Once again, I’d like to thank Peter Tileston and his staff for an outstanding job hosting our auditions once again (and what an amazing facility!)  I’m sure I will see some of you again at Junior Auditions on Dec. 6.  Keep up the great work you all do for our students.

If you notice up at the top of this page, there is a tab labeled “Comments.”  This area is open to any SEMMEA Members to leave comments.

Congratulations to all that made the 2009 Senior Jazz Band!  Also a big thanks to the staff at Brockton High School, Peter Glass, Dave Berry, Lori Anderson, and all of our directors that put in so much time to prepare our students.

Senior Band, Orchestra and Chorus auditions are coming up quickly on November 22.  Be sure to check the SEMMEA Website for registration deadlines or changes.  Don’t forget that our auditions have moved back to King Philip High School.  Hope to see all of you there.

Take Care…

Have you visited the MENC website recently?  The newly redesigned site offers a tremendous amount of resources for us fellow educators.  What I find most interesting is the “My Music Class” Section, which offers a great selection of lesson plans, and information on standards.  Check it out!

Next week, we have a very busy week.  First, we have a very important election on Nov.4 with Question 1 being a very important ballot question.  Please do you your research and understand the possible ramifications if Question 1 passes and we all loose vital State funding.

On Nov. 5, we have jazz auditions at Brockton High School.  I hope to see many of you there!

Welcome.  We have yet another very exciting festival season ahead of us.  Managers and Concert Chairs have been hard at work preparing for our Senior Festival and our Junior Festival.

I wanted to start this blog as a way to pass along information to you, and to allow a venue for members to initiate online discussions.  If you are not familiar with a blog, no problem; it’s very easy to use and navigate.  The main content area contains “posts.”  Whenever I post something new, it will show up at the top of the page, and the older posts will move down.  The title of the post is a link, if you click on it, you can read the post, then make a comment if you wish.

To the right, there is some information and some links for you to check out.  At the bottom of this area, there is a “subscribe” section.  If you enter your email address here, you will receive an email notification when I post content.

At the very top of the page, there are tabs.  These are links to other pages withink this blog.  I may post some other information on those pages as I come across it.

It is my hope that I can share some great websites I have found, and you can share some websites that YOU have found.  I may also create podcasts and software demonstrations.

As always, you can send me an email at jpcollins909@gmail.com

Thanks for reading!
